LUMERICAL SELECTED AS A FINALIST FOR RED HERRING CANADA TOP 50 AWARD
Awards recognize most promising and innovative private Canadian technology companies

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - August 27, 2008 - Lumerical Solutions, Inc. (lumerical.com),
a leading provider of engineering software for micro- and nano-scale optical components, has been selected as a finalist by
Red Herring (redherring.com) for a Red Herring Canada Top 50 award. These awards
celebrate the most innovative and promising private technology companies in Canada. According to Red Herring, the nominees are
rigidly evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation,
quality of management, execution of strategy and integration into their ecosystem.

The Red Herring editorial board examined the entrepreneurial scene throughout Canada and identified the top 100
companies from several hundred applicants. Winners of the awards will be announced at the Red Herring-hosted event
at the Mont-Tremblant resort in Quebec, on the 16th of September, where the 100 finalists are invited to present
their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers and corporate strategists.
