A scalable network-based licensing system to facilitate access to computing resources and amenable to concurrent computing

Overview

Lumerical’s Concurrent+ licensing system offers time-based floating licenses that can be shared across a network.  Concurrent+ licenses are not tied to a particular user or workstation, allowing them to be used within a heterogeneous network environment with computers running different operating systems. Concurrent+ licenses also allow a single user to run multiple concurrent jobs of Lumerical products on a multiple computers without leaving their workstation.  Users are entitled to technical support and product upgrades for the duration of their license at no additional cost.  Similarly, installation packages for all supported operating systems are included with each purchase.

Features

License Manager

• Automatically installed during the installation of any Lumerical product
• License Manager can be accessed via a graphical user interface to check license quotas, expiry dates, current usage and to grant/restrict access to the License Manager
• License Manager can be installed on any supported operating system
• Choice of the operating system where the license manager is installed does not affect which computers on that network can access licenses from that license manager (e.g. license manager can be a Linux Redhat machine and licenses can be requested by Windows computers)

USB Network Key

• The license manager automatically detects connected USB Network Keys and makes the licenses on those keys available to any computer on that network
• USB Network Key contains product quotas and expiry dates for each licensed product
• USB Network Key can be electronically updated to increase license quota or extend license expiry date
• USB Network Key can be connected to any computer running a supported operating system

Licensed Product

• Product upgrades, including major releases, for all operating systems are available from the Download Center for the duration of your license
• Product ships with installation packages for all supported operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux) at no additional cost
• Concurrent or distributed simulations launched from any instance of the licensed product can only be run on a homogeneous network (same operating system and licensed product version, including make, version number, and 32/64 bit architecture)
