Photonics design automation accelerates prototyping silicon photonic integrated circuit (PIC) designs with CompoundTek’s foundry services

CompoundTek, a global foundry services leader in emerging silicon photonic solutions recently partnered with leading photonic simulation software provider, Lumerical, to enhance CompoundTek’s Si photonics Process Design Kit (PDK) offering to existing and potential global commercial customers.
CompoundTek in partnership with Lumerical will present a live demo at CompoundTek’s booth (#6105) and Lumerical’s booth (#5438) during the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition 2019 (OFC2019) from 5th – 7th March 2019 at the San Diego Convention Centre. OFC2019 is billed as the world’s largest industry event of its kind that connects attendees from key market sectors including data center end users to service providers, carriers, systems and component vendors.

The Compact Model Library (CML) includes active and passive devices such as optical waveguide devices, fiber-to-waveguide couplers, high-speed waveguide Ge photo-detectors, high-speed modulators, etc. Si photonics designers can leverage these pre-developed blocks to design and verify their photonics products more quickly and efficiently before fabricatingphysical prototypes. These predictive capabilities enable photonics designers to validate designs prior to manufacturing thus reducing the time from product design to market launches.
