New CMOS Sensor Workflow with the Ansys 2021 R1 Release

In this webinar, we describe how to optimize CMOS image sensor cameras with Ansys Lumerical FDTD, CHARGE and Ansys SPEOS. This interoperability offers an invaluable workflow for optimizing the efficiency of the camera CMOS sensor in conjunction with its macroscopic lens and electronics subsystems. It enables engineers to simulate the entire system, taking into consideration the interplay between the microscopic effects of CMOS image sensors and the rest of system. With the addition of Ansys SPEOS’s capabilities for handling realistic illumination, the user can easily construct an accurate view of the final image as recorded by the camera.

The webinar begins with a brief introduction to the Lumerical and SPEOS tools. Next, we provide an overview of the CMOS sensor interoperability workflow available with 2021 R1 including a description of the various types of information that can be shared between Lumerical tools and SPEOS. Finally, we provide a detailed demonstration of the workflow combining the SPEOS Lens System (SLS) importer for macroscopic lenses with full External Quantum Efficiency (EQE) data of the sensors from Ansys’ Lumerical tools.
