In this half-day seminar, we will introduce Lumerical's design tools and its application areas of current industrial and academic interest. Attendees will obtain a broad range of knowledge on the main product features that can be applied across a wide variety of applications. Users are expected to have a basic familiarity with the products, which can be obtained through the product introductory webinars (FDTD Solutions, MODE Solutions, DEVICE, INTERCONNECT).

  • Introduction to Lumerical's product catalog (FDTD Solutions, MODE Solutions, DEVICE, and INTERCONNECT), and its application areas.
  • Solutions to applications in Nanophotonics:
    • Plasmonics
    • Particle and surface scattering
    • Photonic crystal and diffractive optics
    • Metamaterials
  • Introductions to Photonic Integrated Circuit simulation methodologies
    • Introduction to component and circuit level solvers
    • Creating and using Compact Model Library (CML)
    • Interoperability between Lumerical and third-party tools
    • Application examples (as applicable and time dependent)
      • Waveguides
      • Grating devices
      • Thermally tuned waveguide
      • PN phase shifter
      • Ring resonator
