PIC Week 2018: TowerJazz Silicon Photonics PDK and CML

TowerJazz, the global specialty foundry leader, recently announced the first open Silicon Photonics manufacturing process (PH18MA) offered by a commercial foundry with an industry-leading design platform targeting optical networking and data center interconnect applications. TowerJazz and Lumerical have collaborated to develop the compact model library (CML) for this platform, providing customers with unmatched simulation capability using Lumerical’s photonic integrated circuit simulator, INTERCONNECT.

In this webinar, our guest speaker from TowerJazz – Dr. Samir Chaudhry (Director, Design Enablement), will present TowerJazz’s silicon photonics technology and PDK. In particular, we will have a short demo of the TowerJazz CML. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the experts from both Lumerical and TowerJazz.

Presenters:

Dr. Samir Chaudhry Director, Design Enablement (TowerJazz): Dr. Chaudhry has been leading the Design Kit and Modeling activities for TowerJazz since 2008. In this role he is responsible for delivering design enablement and support for specialty technologies such as RF, mmWave, High-performance Analog and Silicon Photonics. He has worked with the Compact Modeling Council in developing industry standard compact models for circuit simulation. Prior to joining TowerJazz, he was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff with Bell Labs, where he worked on Technology CAD and device modeling for scaled silicon technologies. He has authored over 25 journal publications and has 29 patents in the field of silicon technology.

Dr. Xu Wang Applications Team Manager (Lumerical): Dr. Wang is responsible for leading the Lumerical Applications Team to develop innovative solutions for emerging applications. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia. His primary research experience and interests are in integrated photonics and electronic-photonic design automation, and he has co-authored over 60 refereed journal and conference publications in these areas.
